Ganban Rock Seminar in Tokyo report!
Hello! This is Nob. how are you guys doin' ? Many rockers are going crazy about the confirmation of Neil Young and so am I!!
On Sunday 25th of March, there was a talk session called 'Ganban Rock Seminar' in Tokyo organized by the rockin' Ganban record shop, and Hidaka Taisho (a head of Smash) and Soichiro Tanaka (an editor of Japanese rock mag, Snoozer) talked hell a lot about things ilike this year's Fuji Rock Festival. There were so many shocking off-the-record remarks by Taisho that everyone there had gone mad about. After the session, I was still too hungry for more scoops, so I caught up Taisho and asked more about the line-up.
In addition to the officially announced artists yesterday, Feeder (from the UK), Husking Bee (from Japan), Super Butter Dog (from Japan), and Dry & Heavy (from Japan) have all been confirmed by Taisho. Feeder played FRF two years ago and I'm really looking forward to seeing how good they have become. Husking Bee, who've been, I reckon, just big enough to play FRF any previous years, will be playing for the first time this year. Dry & Heavy, who played last year, is one of my favorites! These bands play either the White stage or the Red Marquee tent.
Back to the seminar story, many other bands' names were mentioned by Taisho but it is only off-the-record and I cannot mention them unfortunately. But one of them ... who I guess is still in the begining of negotiation, is...... Oh if they really come to play, it's going to be more than the best festival in the world!!! I have to tell you benn to the seminar... Can you keep the secret??'
Today, I also have some bad news. Dave Mathews Band who were strongly rumored to play this year are not playing, I hear. This is due to their recent No.1 success in the States, and there are just too many commitments for them in the US from now on that they cannot come to Japan this summer. Let's hope them to be here for next year then. Orbital, who did a great performance at the last year's Elekctraglide party in Japan, said they really wanted to come, but one of the brothers' wife is expecting a baby soon, so not this year.
OK, keep clicking for the next eye-popping scoops.
