    News on line-up changes

Unfortunately, the first thing I've gotta tell you is some bad news - the Deftones have pulled out of the festival. "Sorry, sorry," was all Taisho could think of to say... And all we can say is that we'll find out the details for you and let you know what happened, but, as always, please check the official Fuji Rock website first.

Ah hem... why the renewed website is late.

As I said last time we updated, fujirockers.org has already started working hard for the Fuji Rock Festival '01, but unfortunately the new-look website is still taking time! Sorry! We are now planning the renewal for March 20, so please be patient.

The basic content of the website will not change, but we will dump redundant parts and make it look smarter and more handsome overall.

When the renewed website is launched, we'll update it with as much exciting news as possible. Our volunteer staff is working hard checking the VOICE BBS, meeting with Taisho and amassing all the info you want to know. You'll get answers and responses to all your questions and ideas posted in the BBS - you just need to be patient a little bit longer.

Before you post messages on the BBS, though, please make sure you first read the HELP section, which will have more information and re-newed very shortly though, very carefully (accessible via the question mark on the top right-hand side of the website) before submitting messages. We are still receiving postings that have nothing to do with the concept behind the VOICE BBS and some people are totally ignoring the rules for the BAND BBS.

Perhaps you are wondering if your messages in the BBS will be read and considered by the organizers. We can assure you that Taisho is checking every entry in every BBS every day, so we can promise you that your voice is reaching him. Also, many of the artists you have been mentioning in the BAND BBS are already under negotiation with Taisho - this IS true! Of course, at this point we do not know which ones will come through and make it to the festival, Perhaps you are finding it hard to get ready for the festival, but there are already many places where you can get information. To start with, the best place, I guess, to get information in English is in the TOGETHER BBS. I'm sure there are many cool Japanese rockers ready to help you. If you do understand Japanese, please check the association of Naeba Ryokan, Inns, and you may find some less expensive accommodation near the site.

Finally, let me give you some advice from my personal experience. Someone in the TOGETHER BBS asked about sleeping in cars in the car park at the festival. I think you would be better not to do so. In Japan, the sun rises early in summer, so I don't think you'd be able to get enough sleep in a car. Of course it's a lot of fun to attend the fesitval, but it can also be very tiring - especially in the elevated Naeba highlands. Once, after attending the Glastonbury Festival in England, where I slept in my car to save money, I had a huge car accident on my way back to London because I was so sleepy at the wheel. It was such a serious accident that everyone wondered how I survived. To be honest, the only reason was was luck. The following year, someone did die in a similar car accident by drowsing while driving. This is only my personal advice based on my experience, but, as I said, I would not recommend that you sleep in your car.

PS : I hear that the official site will be announcing another 6 acts on the 16th of March which will include a legendary rock bands from Manchester and Liverpool. Please do check it.
