Neil Young and others were just confirmed!
There was a strong rumor about Neil Young's appearance for FRF '01 going around, but... The rumor is over now and it's a real thing. He and Crazy Horse are definitely coming to play at FRF '01 in Naeba on Saturday, the 28th! I guess they should be the headliner of the day for the Green Stage, but nobody ever know what time they'll be up on stage yet.
I've been a big fan of him since he was in The Buffalo Springfield and I'm so excited to see him in Naeba! I'm sure there are many old fans out there feeling the same! And I guess some young fujirockers are well excited as well if you love Kurt Cobain or Pearl Jam or Paul Weller (he did a cover version of "Ohio"), or Galliano (who did Neil's cover too) will just go crazy about the news. Well, these are just a few of so many musicians covered Neil Young's song though.
I am so happy today that I decided to tell you all the artists who will be announced on the official page tommorow.
Friday, 27th Tricky, Rappa Warrior(from Japan) on White Stage
Saturday, 28th Neil Young Crazy Horse on Green Stage
Alec Empire, Yama-arashi(from Japan) on White Stage
Muse, South, Mo'some Tonebender at Red Marquee
As I said in the last update, there will be many rumors flying around till the end of the festival or even after the festival. I remember A web-site of a nation wide TV station in Japan reported that Red Hot Chilli Peppers wouldn't appear at FRF '97 but it was just a bull shit 'cos they did play in the bloody typhoon in that year.
In 1998, one world famous news agency delivered news to all the newspaper claiming that 700 or 900 people dropped like flies in the FRF '98, but the number the organizer reported to the authority included so many poeple wanted to have some cool water or ice or even sanitary napkins as such and the news agency made up the whole story without coming to the site to check and, as the result, some top selling serious papers in Japan reported this as top news, funny enough. I wonder if they are clever enough to have imagination of a view where tons of embulance with hundreds of red light flashing near the site and there should be no sound of music there if it were a true story.
The worse thing is that a 'very respectable' TV chat show tried to report the never-happened incident by using a helicopteeeer!! Could you believe this? I don't want to, but this is what happened. So the lesson today or of our history is to believe what you see but not they. Never relay on mas-media!
The one and only place where you can have confirmed information is the official website of FRF '01. If there are any changes, the first place to announce the news will be and has been the official homepage.
