When walking around Bangkok downtown, you can smell the various flavors of spices from stalls.. No! We are actually still in Japan but in a Thai restaurant "Sawadee", where we can try dishes from Thai stalls.
There is a lot of fun to be had by all at this restaurant since the owner has opened booths at FRF six times. One day, Mr. Someya, the owner, was asked to come and cook for a wedding party in Osaka.
But he had to turn it down because of the schedule. But the wedding couple said to him "Then we'll change the date of our wedding, so please come and cook for us". He was so impressed by them, he went to Osaka. You don't normally change the wedding date, do you?
Such famous Thai noodles are on the FRF menu. The chicken soup is great and the noodles are made by rice, the topping is pork, Pakuchi (herb), and fried garlic. At first, taste the soup as it is and then put in Nanplar (fish soy sauce) and the four major seasonings of Thailand: dried red pepper, vinegar with raw pepper, and sugar, which you'll find on any table at Thai restaurants.
"I've been telling everyone to taste the soup without any seasonings at first so that you can know how good the chef is, but everyone puts the seasonings in! If you taste the soup and it's ok, then every menu is delicious", says Mr. Someya.
Other than that, there is "Thai curry" with coconut milk and "pork rice" - stir-fried pork and vegetable on rice. There are many things to enjoy this summer! Many people might go there every day during the festival this year, like last year. This year Mr. Someya hired a great cook from Thailand and made a home-made Thai stall to compete with other restaurants at the Oasis area.
Cheerful music will match these Thai stalls, like, maybe the Japanese rockin' band, the High Lows? Let's enjoy FUJI ROCK by eating SAWADEE every day.
