"Cali-Crunch : Crazy Town Chew up and Spit Out"
The kids in Japan like it hard. At least that's what I could judge from the reaction that Crazy Town recieved when they took the stage tonight. As the three-guitar assault pummeled the amps with dark metal licks, the crowd heaved forward to get a closer look at the sweaty, tatooed purveyors of rap-core.
The dual vocalists played the roles of fixity and flux, with one remaining fairly motionless (fist-pumps notwithstanding) stage left while his spiky blonde counterpart was in a contant state of motion, sprinting around the stage, climbing the amps and pumping the already throbbing crowd to a fever pitch. |

| The California six-piece went through a barrage of hits from their two album, the heftiest dose coming from the latest. But the biggest crowd pleaser seemed to be their fist single from three years back, "Toxic", where the Lurch-like lead guitar non-chalantly screeched through the feedback for an impressive solo. |
| Like most bands on their fist tour of Japan, Crazy Town never realized that when talking to the crowd, English phrases should be kept simple and minimal and body language (which they used profusely while performing each number) should be the main form of communication. Several questions the bands asked the crowd between numbers. |

| Who out there is a fan of the band, Rise?) went unanswered, but just raise a fist and shout "Tokyo!" and the kids would froth at the mouth. The set ended with the AC/DC-meets-Deftones track, "Waste of My Time", and "Bridge". The interplay between the drummer and his three axe-laden henchmen was airtight until the end, which came suddenly. They thanked the crowd and said they'd be back. Is that a threat or a promise? |
