FRF '99 Green Stage
Limp Bizkit [1999.7.31 20:15]
Well I guess it would be nice... AND IT WAS! The Fuji fans haven't rocked harder all weekend! Pre-show security meetings were a sure sign of things to come. The pure energy being unleashed by the quintet from Florida was enough to send hundreds of wild fans over the barrier at the front of the stage.
Fans were thrashing to Limp originals, as well as a few covers that went over extremely well with the audience. Headman, Fred Durst's questioning of the crowds tastes dictated the covers chosen. "DO YOU LIKE TOOL?" What followed was a silent audience that was probably trying to decypher what was just said... silent. "DO YOU LIKE METALLICA?" A little bit of a roar came out of the crowd. "DO YOU LIKE RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINHE?" Ballistic crowd noise was noticed by Durst and the band went into a little Rage of their own, fooling the crowd by stopping just before the music turned too heavy. "DO YOU LIKE KORN?" Another roar from the fans produced a similar play on a Korn tune that was once again cut short.
The highlight of the unexpected covers section was when Durst handed controll over to guitarist Wes Borland to strut his stuff... and strut he did. He unleashed a picture perfect version of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" along with the kick of Otto's drums. The crowd was bashing in pure metal style throughout the entire performance. The inevitable cover of George Michael's "Faith" was also included to the delight of everyone in attendance.
It is going to take a long time before I experience anything with the intensity and wildness of Limp Bizkit.
