For ten years it was my dream to hold a rock festival in Japan. Two things stopped me: I didn't have the budget and the fans just were'nt ready. Japanese audiences were too systematized - when they went to see a band, they sat and listened and then left straight away. Now they've had two years of experiencing the Fuji Rock Festival. Perhaps they're still not ready for this year's setup, with five stages to choose from, but at least they now understand what an outdoor festival is all about - it's a journey. This is new ground and I don't know where it will take us, but I hope the fans like it even more next year. |
