Here comes the sun [1999.7.30 12:07]
Azure skies, whisps of clouds and a blistering unforgiving sun greeted the festivalgoers camped out on the grassy ski slopes behind the giant Naeba Prince hotel. As hordes of more campers arrived on the morning shuttles, campers who arrived the previous night arose from their slumber and made their morning libations by the portatoilets and at a small stream. Gotta brush those teeth, rub on that sun block, buy that beer (already available at 9 a.m.).
In front of the hotel, a long 6-block line of early-risers had snaked its way from the main entrance to the gate. Gotta be at frontstage for Rocket from the Crypt.
In the halls and lobbies and game centers of the Naeba Prince, clumps of festivalgoers crashed anyway and anywhere that they could. Such is the life of the festival. Gotta sleep somewhere.
And I gotta go see some bands.
